We had a lovely weekend, housebound by my expectations of bad weather. It never really got as bad as we were expecting, which is a good thing, but since I had prepared for the worst we just stuck close to home.
An afternoon was spent mesmerized by paper doll chain dolls.
Everyone was enchanted by the process. We cut out gingerbread men, dolls and monsters. Colored and colored, played, and then everything eventually got trampled on, and into the garbage it went. Besides all of the obvious benefits of simple creative play, there is something to be said for being able to chuck it all when you are done with it.
I also found a fun paperdoll site with tons of links for printable paper dolls. Fun, fun, fun...
I finally got a start on Christmas presents as well. I have lots of ideas in my head, but have been putting off starting anything. With Christmas right around the corner, I decided I better get started.
My plan is to make lots of felt food for the kiddos to play with.
Here is my start at breakfast food. I'll need to make plenty more to satisfy the needs of three playing together, but it thankfully goes quickly.
My most favorite piece:
At first I thought I was a little bit crazy making all of those french knots, but I love the way it turned out, and I might just make more the next time I am sitting in front of the TV.
Here is some fabulous felt food inspiration.
I am a little late in announcing the winner of my little drawing. I wrote out the names on slips of paper, and Laura drew Lucy's name. So congrats Lucy! I will be sending a Kiva gift certificate your way, and we can chat about what I can make for you.
Hope you all had a fantastic weekend! I need to run and clean up the ornament I just heard break. Sigh...
